The German companies BlueSens gas sensor GmbH and TRACE Analytics GmbH founded the network for bioprocess sensors "ABS Analytical Bioprocess Solutions - Your network of PAT sensor specialists". "ABS will act as a competence cluster for bioprocess analysis," explains Dr. Holger Müller, one of the BlueSens´ managing directors. In the future, the ABS network will exhibit together on fairs and it will also develop cross-company analysis concepts. "For customers, the solutions of the measurement tasks in bioprocesses are in the foreground and regardless of the manufacturer," says TRACE Analytics CEO Dr. Wolfgang Künnecke.
The products of the two partners complement each other and cover different tasks.
TRACE Analytics is a leading provider of analytical instruments for online monitoring of cell cultures and fermentation in the liquid phase. TRACE Analytics contributes glucose- and lactate probes in the joint analysis systems for example. BlueSens is a specialist for gas analysis in bioprocesses and also offers also software solutions to monitor the process. "The software collects all the measurement data of all sensors and will allow a process control in the future," says Dr. Müller. The network will grow in the future and add other companies. "We have currently talks with further bioanalysis specialists," says Dr. Künnecke. The first joint trade shows by TRACE Analytics and BlueSens will take place at the Biotechnology Conference in Cologne (Biotechnologietage Köln) and at the INTERPHEX in New York City. At Achema in Frankfurt the two companies will also exhibit together.
PAT – is meaning Process Analytical Technology and is an initiative of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States about the manufacturing processes in the chemical industry. According to the PAT approach during the production process all important process parameters should be monitored and documented to guarantee a maximum of process safety and to optimize the processes during production.
